KIP 3000, 3100 & 7100 Error Codes: Reference Guide
Whether you’re troubleshooting a paper jam or diagnosing a more serious hardware issue, understanding KIP error codes can save you time and frustration. Below is a reference for error codes found on the KIP 3000, 3100, and 7100 wide-format printers.
Fuser Errors (E-000 to E-004)
E-000 — Fuser Temperature Rising Error (Fuser Low Temp) The fuser failed to reach a minimal temperature (e.g., did not rise above ~50°C). Possible causes include wiring issues, lamp failure, thermistor problem, or SSR/relay issues.
E-001 — Fuser Over Temperature Error The fuser exceeded safe temperature limits (e.g., >230°C). Could be due to a control circuit failure, thermistor out of spec, or a shorted heater.
E-002 — Fuser Low Temperature (Warm-Up) The fuser did not heat fast enough during the power-up or warm-up sequence. Causes are similar to E-000: lamp, wiring, SSR, or thermistor.
E-003 — Fuser Temperature Abnormal Fall Error The difference between center and side temperatures is too large (≥50°C). May indicate uneven heating or a sensor mismatch.
E-004 — Fuser Failure to Increase Temperature (Lamp On) Even though the heater is active (lamp or SSR “on”), the temperature does not increase by even 1°C within the time window.
Motor Errors (E-010 to E-012)
E-010 — Main Motor Error The system did not detect the main motor output properly (e.g., signal stuck “H” too long). Could point to wiring, motor driver, or the motor itself.
E-011 — Fuser Motor Error A motor in the fusing assembly failed to operate or its output was not detected.
E-012 — Developer Press Motor Error The motor that presses/activates the developer (toner/engine) failed or its feedback was not detected.
Other Mechanical & Electrical Errors
E-020 — Counter Error Some counting circuitry (e.g., page counter or internal counters) encountered a malfunction.
E-031 / E-032 / E-033 — High Voltage / AC / Transfer (HV) / AC Error Issues with the high-voltage circuits, AC supply, or transfer corona circuits.
E-034 — Developer Bias Output Error The bias voltage for the developer (toner) failed to reach or maintain specification.
E-040 — Cutter Error The cutter mechanism failed. Check the sensor, wiring, and drive components.
E-050 — FPGA Error The FPGA (field-programmable gate array) initialization failed during startup. Generally points to a controller board issue.
E-070 — Developer Error The developer unit (toner/engine) has an issue. Common causes include a disconnected wiring connector (J-253) or switch MS4 (which detects open/close of the engine unit or toner hatch) being open or unpressed.
